Core Values of the Dream Center

HOW THE DREAM CENTER WORKS

“When we do for those in need what they have the capacity to do themselves, we disempower them…  we have succeeded only in creating a permanent underclass.” Robert D. Lupton, Toxic Charity

The DREAM CENTER is a faith-based ministry that serves those in need with a “hand up” instead of a hand out. The primary components of the Dream Center include:

  •  INDIVIDUALIZED SUCCESS PLAN developed for every person seeking aid from the Dream Center. These plans will outline individual needs, achievable goals, and a strategy to move forward in collaboration with Dream Center and its affiliates.

  •  FREE CLASSES, Bible studies, and counseling led by Dream Center volunteers, community leaders, industry professionals, educators, church groups, social workers, and willing individuals - to provide education, training, empowerment, and hope to Henry County’s disadvantaged and underserved populations.

  • DREAM DOLLARS awarded to those who attend classes and abide by Center rules. Dream Dollars will be treated as currency in which class participants may “pay” to utilize certain services and resources of the Dream Center. This supports a bi-directional investment towards the individual’s success.

  • A DREAM CENTER FACILITY to serve as a central hub for several independently run non-profit organizations similarly burdened to serve the disadvantaged.

The Need

  · With 217,739 people, Henry County is the 8th most populated county out of 159 Georgia counties, with only about half of the population participating in the civilian labor force.

As of May 2016, there were 1,054 school-aged homeless students recorded by the Henry County School System. This does not include children under the age of 5, individuals over the age of 18, or those not enrolled in school. Sadly, this number continues to rise.

The Solution

The Dream Center comes alongside people in need to help them help themselves.

At the Dream Center, basic human needs are addressed first, thereby establishing an environment of love, trust, safety, and openness to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Dream Center provides resources and tools to educate those in poverty or in crisis on topics which facilitate real change for their lives today and for future generations, moving people out of material poverty and oppression.

The Dream Center seeks to increase program participants’ sense of dignity and self-worth through love, accountability, and Biblical discipleship.

The Dream Center serves as a hub for a network of community resources, believing that unity and collaboration will have the greatest impact on community needs while avoiding duplication of services and resources.

The Dream Center enables the Body of Christ to serve the marginalized of Henry County in tangible ways, allowing volunteers to serve in areas where called and equipped.

All of our services are geared towards the whole family. Adults and students meet in our spacious cafe and lobby and then enter the main sanctuary for exciting contemporary worship, a time of biblical, yet creative teaching that is encouraging and easy to understand and there is always an opportunity to make a decision to follow Jesus Christ. We catch up with each other, talk and laugh. We take care of one another. We do life together and we learn what it really means to be a church.

Radiant Church is a non-denominatinoal, life-giving church that began in South Metro Atlanta, along the I-75 south corridor in McDonough, GA in March 2013. Radiant is committed to reflecting the light and love of Jesus in our families, our communitues, to others, even those who are different, and around the world. We do this by helping people know God, find freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference.  We strongly believe that there is a growing population in this region that is searching for something authentic yet powerful to fill the spiritual void in their lives.  We also believe that the best place to find such is in purposeful, relevant, Spirit-filled churches that are following God's design.

We are a church that desires to honor Jesus Christ in all that we do and say. We want to help you to grow in your personal relationship with God. We hope that you will find us to be a place where you and your family can come to worship on Sunday and throughout the week”a place where Jesus Christ is exalted and His Word is preached and lived out among the people.
